Abraham Lincoln Cut Signature as President! D ated : July 1st, 1864. Pulled directly from a box of 2019 Historic Autographs Civil War Divided. 2 This is the rarer, full-name version of Abraham Lincoln's signature , which he only used when signing official documents. Lincoln signature is much more common.3 It's rare to find any presidential cut signature with a date on it, let alone a Lincoln cut signature! A presidential autograph holds much more value if it's from when the president was in office. You can make out the date on the clipped signature as July 1, 1864 - it reads, First Day of July... , which equates to July 1st, 1864 , since we can safely assume it wasn't from any other century besides the 18th century. 4 It's bold and sharp!
I may end up sending it back to Beckett to get the signature graded, because I think it would get a 9 or 10. 5 It was cut from a military commission (appointment) document, which you can determine by the artwork at the bottom of the paper clipping.
